Slovenian Germans

Založba ZRC has published Anja Moric’s substantial monograph Slovenski Nemci: Diaspora, identitete in medskupnostni odnosi (Slovenian Germans: Diaspora, Identities and Intercommunity Relations), edited by Marjeta Pisk. Drawing on the life stories of Slovenian Germans in the diaspora, the author analyses identity processes, the intergenerational transmission of historical experiences, and the role of collective memory and heritagisation in shaping intercommunity relations. Particular attention is devoted to a critical examination of the concept of the Slovenian diaspora and the question of including Gottscheers in the history of Slovenian emigration.

The monograph was also presented at Gače as part of the 12th Days of Gottscheer Culture. The discussion with the author was moderated by the book’s editor, Marjeta Pisk.
