Proposal to inscribe Alpine Food Heritage in UNESCO’s Register of Good Safeguarding Practices

Špela Ledinek Lozej, a member of the programme group, actively collaborated with the Ministry of Culture of Slovenia in preparing a multinational nomination for the inscription of Alpine food heritage in UNESCO’s Register of Good Safeguarding Practices. The proposal for a community-based programme for safeguarding Alpine heritage – submitted to UNESCO by Switzerland on behalf of Italy, France, Slovenia, and Switzerland, and supported by numerous partners in the fields of heritage, regional development, and tourism, as well as by heritage bearers – establishes a long-term framework for safeguarding Alpine food heritage and is the outcome of the international AlpFoodway project.
