SIEF Conference Living Uncertainty

SIEF – The International Society for Ethnology and Folklore – organised the 16th Biennial Congress under the title Living Uncertainty, which took place at Masaryk University in Brno from 7 to 10 June 2023. The congress venue was chosen deliberately, as it was in the Czech Republic that the predecessor of SIEF, the Commission internationale de l’art populaire, was founded. Among the nearly 1000 participants who presented papers in 97 panels was Marjeta Pisk, who presented her paper Festival Jurjevanje in Črnomelj – A space for performing identifications? and chaired a section of the panel Why folklore? Seeking for belonging and identities.
