The 19th Congress of the International Society for Folk Narrative Research (ISFNR)

The 19th Congress of the International Society for Folk Narrative Research (ISFNR) took place in Riga from 17 to 21 June. The central theme of Folk Narratives in a Changing World stimulated reflections and presentations of diverse research addressing the central theme from different perspectives. Marjeta Pisk presented her paper Weather proverbs in a changing climate in the session focusing on environmental change. The congress took place during the summer solstice, one of the main festivals in Latvia, and the participants had the opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere, marked by typical songs, music and wreath-making. The appointment of Prof. Dr. Mirjana Mencej from the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana to the position of the president of the Association ensured that the congress had a particularly festive note for the Slovenian participants.
