Heritage of Multicultural Areas

Heritage of Multicultural Areas is the title of a special issue of the journal Traditiones, published in December 2025 under the editorship of Anja Moric and Marjeta Pisk. The issue is dedicated to the multilayered and often contested heritage of multicultural areas, and the published studies show how heritage in multicultural areas is established, shaped, shared, or rejected. They examine the impact of historical turning points, silences, and traumas, and emphasise that heritage can serve as a tool of exclusion or, alternatively, as a space for inclusion and dialogue. The articles address the paradoxes of heritagisation in multicultural environments, which are often overlapping, mutually conflicting, or strategically pushed into the background.
